The ISPM 15 standard has been developed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It defines the treatment and marking requirements for wooden packaging material used in international trade.
ISPM 15 requires that wooden packaging material is made from debarked wood and heat-treated so that the temperature inside the wood reaches at least 56°C for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Film-faced plywood that complies with FDA/USA §177.2410 can be safely used in contact with food products.
